Arched Walnut and Copper Sofa Table

This piece is truly unique.  We were commissioned to create a piece that would fit into a contemporary classic living room full of an eclectic set of finishes and colors.  We wanted to tie into some of the other curvature in the room so we came up with an arched design in the legs where it appears that the pieces are splitting off of one another.  The center is tied together with floating mortise and tenon joinery and contrasting cherry wedged dowels.

The top is a hand selected, shop sawn veneer pattern that we really loved which we used to create the center butterfly pattern shown in the photographs.  Surrounding the border of the top is a gorgeous mitered copper inlay.  The piece is stabilized by a metal base that is fixed to the arches and recessed into the top from underneath.  This made it incredibly strong to hold the 80lb crystal lamps shown in the photograph.

The piece is finished off with a hand rubbed oil finish and buffed to a perfect polish.
